Think of your spray tan as a team effort. A perfect, golden glow that lasts and fades evenly requires both of us! Prepping your skin is the first step to the best spray tan of your life.
Two Days Before Your Spray Tan
Take care of all other beauty appointments, such as waxing, sugaring, manicures, pedicures, and lash extensions. These services should be done at least 24 hours prior to your spray tan, but 48 hours is even better.
The Day Before Your Spray Tan
Take a shower and exfoliate using an oil-free scrub or, if possible, an exfoliating mitt (highly recommended – it will change your life) the evening prior to your appointment. Be sure to focus on areas that tend to be dry, such as hands, feet, elbows, and knees. It is imperative to remove product buildup, body oils, and dead skin cells in order to allow the DHA in the spray tan solution to react with the amino acids in your skin. The spray tan will not develop 100% if any barriers are on the skin.
Things to Avoid
- Bar soaps, Dove, Olay, and Panteen products before and after tanning. These products tend to create a barrier on the skin and will negatively impact your results. Ingredients matter! Avoid alcohol and other harsh ingredients.
- Please do not shower right before your appointment as the heat and moisture can adversely affect your tan. The solution can also settle in your pores and cause an unintended freckled look.
- If you must shower the day of your tan, be sure to do so a minimum of 4 hours before your appointment. Shower only with cool water and avoid using any soap, shaving cream, or exfoliant products.
